The original Wolfmother line-up is no more, now the band contains the original lead singer and a few new members. I’m not sure what caused the split either. They’ve released a new song for free ahead of the release of their new album.
I’m not gonna lie. I didn’t like much of Wolfmother’s earlier stuff. “Mind’s Eye” was alright, but nothing else really was that spectacular. Especially considering the awards and hype they received.
“Back Round” sounds less like their old stuff, but it certainly has retained a lot (and I mean a lot) of their previous elements and style. Which is good (for those who liked it). Not so much for those of us who didn’t and were expecting something different. Some of the rhythmic patterns and guitar sections are less repetitive and more complex, but that doesn’t mean that they catch on and sound good. For those of you who loved the old Wolfmother, go for it! You’ll like this. For those of you who were hoping for something different, give it a listen but don’t expect too much.
Anyway, they’ve released the new song on their Official Site for download, if you fancy giving them your mobile number. Otherwise, you can get it from this site. Though that could be considered illegal. So don’t.

Why would it be illegal? They shared the song, free for download.
Could be illegal. I’m not 100% sure, but just because they’ve allowed people to download it for free from their site doesn’t mean they’re authorising people to distribute it as they please. They probably want people to sign up for their e-mail newsletter, and to donate to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. So it’d make sense that they want people to get it from their site and not someone else’s.
Though I seriously doubt if they or their label are going to take down un-authorised versions of it if it is illegal anyway.
